Daebu Island in South Korea is a home to a variety of endangered birds. In partnership with Sihwa Lake Savers, an environmental activist non-profit, I camped in Daebu Island from April to June 2022 to protect the near-extinct Eurasian oystercatchers from illegal trespassers engaging in fishing and leisure activities in their habitat. When I approached the trespassers to talk about responsible engagement with environment, most knew that what they were doing was wrong, and some responded by cursing or avoiding the conversation. I worked with local politicians and citizens to collect over 50 tons of trash in Daebu Island, and created art installations with a selected portion of trash and natural derivatives.
