Name is an essential part of a being. There is significant power involved in being able to use one's name in public spaces without inconvenience. In this digital project, I pronounce widely used North American names followed by "foreign" names of Hebrew, Spanish, Somali, Afrikaans, Japanese, Ukrainian, and Korean. The English speech detector fails to interpret most of the latter, which represents the cognitive process of a monolingual English speaker when presented a foreign name.
